As of 2019, the estimated average GDP per capita (PPP) of all of the countries of the 2016-10-06 OECD Factbook 2013 is a comprehensive and dynamic statistical annual publication from the OECD. More than 100 indicators cover a wide range of areas: agriculture, economic production, education, energy, environment, foreign aid, health, industry, information and communications, international trade, labour force, population, taxation, public expenditure, and R&D. Annual comparisons of the economic activity of OECD countries are based on GDP per capita. But GDPs cannot be expressed in national currencies -- the comparison would be meaningless -- nor even simply converted into a single currency, for example the euro, using exchange rates, because differences in price levels between countries would not be taken into account. GDP per capita is often considered an indicator of a country's standard of living; however, this is problematic because GDP per capita is not a measure of personal income. Comparisons of national income are also frequently made on the basis of purchasing power parity (PPP), to adjust for differences in the cost of living in different countries. Current health expenditure accounted for 6.6% of GDP in the LAC region in 2017, an increase of around 0.09 percentage points from 2010. The OECD countries averaged a current health expenditure of 8.8% of the GDP in 2018.
Although GDP per capita is often used as a broad measure of average living standards, high levels of GDP per capita do not necessarily mean high levels of household disposable income, a key measure of average material well-being of people. There are many natural economic reasons for GDP-per-capita to vary between jurisdictions (e.g. places rich in Oil & Gas reserves tend to have high GDP-per-capita figures).
